If your skin has been through a hard time and is needing some TLC, and you are looking for some natural ways to help soothe, heal and repair your skin then you'll enjoy what I'm about to share with you.
Maybe you are concerned about UV damage from over exposure to the sun that's most prevalent on the face, neck and décolletage.
Maybe it's dehydration or congestion from environmental factors.
It could be that you have been suffering from sensitivities to ingredients in commercial skincare products but you're not really sure what's causing it.
If you are looking for ways to repair and heal your skin, you can use a whole range of natural ingredients rich in essential fatty acids, fruit acids and vitamins to heal and rejuvenate skin.
Many natural ingredients like oils, nuts, avocados or other fruits can be combined to deliver benefits equal to or better than the active constituents you'll find in commercial products but without the potential side effects.
The recipes below are designed specifically to target some specific common skin concerns. They can help repair damage and stimulate collagen production and new cell growth while moisturizing skin.
You will note the use of essential oils in these recipes. You can exclude them, but they can play such an important role in skin care recipes I suggest you use them.
So here we go:
Homemade Face Mask Recipe For Sun Damage
Start with a base oil that is rich in fatty acids, like avocado oil that also has regenerative qualities. Other oils like carrot seed, rose hip and walnut oils have anti aging and firming properties and are great for damaged or mature skin.
Make a blend of these oils in a base of:
2 tablespoons of either coconut oil, calophyllum oil (tamanu) or rose hip oil (better still use a mix of all three in equal parts).
Add 5 drops of avocado oil, and olive oil
Add 10 drops of carrot seed oil and/or sea buckthorn oil. These are both rich in antioxidants (vitamins A, C and E) with potent repairing benefits
Blend these ingredients together well and apply to effected areas twice daily. This blend will soak in fast and will help to protect skin from further damage while healing what's already been done. Do this and you'll see an improvement within a week, and a dramatic improvement over several months.
Firming Egg White Homemade Face Mask Recipe
This is a very good mask for tightening and firming skin. Prepare it the day before for best results.
One whipped egg white
1 tablespoon red wine
3 drops of yarrow oil or bergamot oil or a teaspoon of mashed banana
MIx and allow to sit in the refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight if you have time.
Apply in a thin layer to skin and leave on for half and hour to forty minutes. Wash off with warm water and apply your favourite moisturizer.
Hydrating Cream And Avocado Moisture Mask
This is a very rich mask that you can make oilier or drier depending on your personal preference.
1 tablespoon almond, olive, coconut or 1 teaspoon avocado oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon cream, mayonnaise or plain yogurt or one egg yolk
1/2 a mashed avocado
Mash together well, apply to skin and leave on for ten minutes to half an hour. Wash off with warm water followed by your favourite moisturizer.
Glowing Skin Exfoliating Scrub To Lighten Scars

1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt or baking soda
1 teaspoon molasses (optional)
1 teaspoon almond meal or oatmeal finely ground (optional)
1 tablespoon almond oil with a few drops of avocado oil (optional)
If you have oily to normal skin you can add a squeeze of lemon, lime or grapefruit juice
Blend well and rub gently onto skin - add more liquid (water or milk) if too dry. Rub on for 5 minutes then wash off.
Homemade Skin Natural Peel Exfoliant
This recipe helps to remove discolouration, smooth rough skin and lift off old flaky skin. It stimulates new cell growth, is rich in antioxidants that charge skin with protective and repairing vitamins. Use it weekly and you will see the emergence of softer fresher radiant skin.
1 tablespoon fresh pineapple
1 tablespoon papaya, cantaloupe or pawpaw fruit
A few crushed berries (any berries are fine)
1 tablespoon crushed kiwifruit
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon molasses (optional) or yogurt
Mix well and apply to skin in a thick layer. Leave on for no more than ten minutes as this is a very strong mask with active enzymes and fruit acids that act like a chemical peel. It is very powerful and stimulating for skin. Use it twice a week for a soft smooth complexion.
So there are just a few masks to try. These are, as i stated earlier, some very specific recipes for the skin conditions mentioned here. You can make many more for red veins, acne, wrinkles and fine lines, age spots and much more... it's really easy to treat just about any skin condition. Most are so simple it's easy to underestimate just how powerful these masks can be.
You can also make serums and moisturisers (or washes and other treatments) from base and essential oils using tools like serum or ingredient wizards to suggest ingredients or by referring to homemade natural skincare recipes books for more options.
